The AIST Awards for Excellence are to acknowledge the pursuit of excellence and professionalism of the people who work in the representative superannuation industry.
The following goals and objectives have been established for the Awards for Excellence:
- To recognise and reward achievement of individuals and/or teams in their specific roles.
- To recognise and reward achievement of external communication campaigns.
- To encourage the industry to strive for more effective communication and service to members.

What date are the AIST Awards for Excellence being held?
The AIST Awards for Excellence will take place on Tuesday 14 December 2010
Where are the AIST Awards for Excellence being held?
The Sofitel Melbourne On Collins, 25 Collins Street, Melbourne
What time do the AIST Awards for Excellence start and finish?
6:30pm Start and 11:00pm Finish
What is the dress code?
The dress code for the event is cocktail/lounge suit. No denim.

Do I need to be an AIST Member to enter these Awards?
Yes. You must be a registered AIST Member to be eligible to enter.

COMMUNICATIONS AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE
Who can enter the Communication Awards for Excellence?
Entries for the Communication Awards for Excellence are open to all AIST member superannuation funds.
Is there a cost to enter?
No, there is no cost to place an entry in the Communication Awards for Excellence.
Can a fund enter more than one campaign in the Communication Awards?
No, only one entry per fund is permitted.
What is the entry process for the Communication Awards?
A fund should decide which of any of their communication campaigns has had maximum benefit to stakeholders such as members or employers. Ideally the campaign will have been effectively researched, planned, implemented and measured. The campaigns can be any forms of media.
The campaign must have taken place between 1 July 2009 – 30 June 2010
What is the closing date for entry?
Friday 15 October 2010.
Who judges the Awards?
Each award for Excellence has a different judging panel, comprising of industry experts in that specific field and external experts.
How are the Awards judged?
The awards are judged on a numerical basis, with the campaign, individual and team awarded the highest score, being the winner.
What happens if a judge is a service provider of our fund?
Judges are required to sign a Confidentiality Agreement that they will not disclose any information regarding entries or nominations.
In the event that a judge on a particular panel has a business relationship with your fund, they will refrain from judging that specific nomination and the other judges scores will be added together and amortised to give a final score. For example if scores from Judge 1 was 90% and Judge 2 was 94%, these would be tallied and equal 184%, and then divided, which would give a score of 92% for the third judge.
Why should our fund lodge an entry in the Communication Awards for Excellence?As an organisation, you have the opportunity to have your communication project independently judged as the best of the best – which is a huge accolade. You get to receive this award in the company of the best. Winners of the Communication Awards for Excellence will be presented with individual plaques commemorating their achievements.
Team and Individual Awards for Excellence
Who can nominate for the Individual & Team Awards for Excellence?
Nominations are open to staff who work for superannuation funds that are members of AIST.
Is there a cost to nominate?
No, there is no cost to nominate a staff member or team in the Individual and Team Awards for Excellence.
Can a fund nominate staff in different categories?
Yes, a fund can nominate one staff member or team in each of the award categories.
Can multiple staff members or teams from the same fund win in the Award Categories?
Yes, a fund may have staff win in more than one category.
What is the nomination process for the Individual and Team Awards?
Firstly, your CEO or Fund Secretary must endorse the nomination of the individuals or team.
Then, it is up to the CEO or Fund Secretary who actually undertakes the nomination for staff in each of the categories. They may assign a relevant staff member to complete the nomination process – it might be the nominee’s line manager or other key personnel.
The nominees must have been employed by the fund for at least 12 months.

Why should our fund nominate a staff member or team in these Awards?
The winning individual or team of these awards will each receive a scholarship to the value of $5,000 (from the Industry Partner supporting that specific award) to be used for professional development opportunities. Our Industry Partners will work in consultation with the winners of the specific awards and their managers to scope out the most effective professional development opportunity to enhance the skills and knowledge.
Cancellation Policies
DELEGATE CANCELLATION POLICY
Refunds of event registration fees will only be made when written notification is received no later than Monday 15 November 2010.
No refund of registration fees will be made when cancellations are received after Monday 29 November 2010; however a transfer of registration to another person is permitted.
All cancellations and request to transfer a registration to another person must be received in writing.

Please note: Upon registering for the AIST Awards for Excellence 2010 all delegates agree that if for any reason beyond AIST’s reasonable control, including but not limited to strikes, labour disputes, acts, regulations or orders of governmental authorities, civil disorder, disasters, acts of war, acts of nature (fires, floods, or emergency conditions), AIST is unable to perform its obligations under this agreement, such non-performance is excused and AIST may terminate any agreement without further liability of any nature.
